About Bilqis GreenTech
Who We Are
Bilqis GreenTech was founded by twin sisters Safiatou Fomba and Sarah Fomba, shaped by lived experiences across cultures, industries, and communities.
Growing up in a household supported by dedicated workers who became family, they witnessed firsthand how unsafe waste practices affect health, dignity, and everyday life.
Later, living across 11 countries and spending time on construction sites in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire where their family has operated a construction business for over 20 years exposed them to the scale of waste generated by cities, events, and infrastructure projects, and how poorly it is often managed.
Over time, this understanding expanded beyond physical waste to include system gaps moments when support systems pause, fragment, or fail altogether. This insight led Bilqis GreenTech to focus not only on urban and event waste.
These experiences shaped a clear mission:
To make waste management and resource systems safer, smarter, and more human.
Why The Name “Bilqis”
The name Bilqis is inspired by Queen Bilqis (Queen of Sheba), a revered figure known for her wisdom, leadership, and commitment to justice. As the ruler of the ancient kingdom of Sheba, Bilqis was celebrated for her intelligence, diplomacy, and thoughtful governance.
As a women-led startup, we deeply resonate with these values. Bilqis GreenTech reflects our belief that strong leadership is rooted in knowledge, responsibility, and purpose. We strive to embody Bilqis’s legacy by building solutions that are intelligent, fair, and impactful while serving as role models for women and future innovators.
